What is The Phoenix Saga?

A dark, character-driven space opera about survival, found family, and rebirth from ashes. After humanity falls to a ruthless Empire, Captain James Anders and a ragtag crew fight to stay alive aboard a battered starship. They scavenge the stars and uncover ancient powers that could save what’s left of humanity — or burn it all down.

Do I have to read the books in order?

Yes. Start with Phoenix Rising. Each book builds on the last. You can jump in later, but you’ll miss why the crew is in the shape they’re in.

What’s the reading order?

1. Phoenix Rising
2. Phoenix Rising: Ascension
3. Phoenix Rising: Absolution
4. Phoenix Rising: Renewal
5. Phoenix Rising: Revelation (November 27, 2026)

Where can I buy the books?
Ebook and paperback are on Amazon, Apple Books, Barnes & Noble, Kobo, and other retailers. The easiest door is jprobertsonauthor.com or the universal link at books2read.com/jprobertson.

When does Book 5 come out?
Revelation releases November 27, 2026. It’s the longest book in the series — a little over 110,000 words. The ebook and paperback files are already uploaded.

Is this grim military sci-fi, or something else?
It’s space opera with teeth. Combat, loss, and a crew that doesn’t get easy wins. It’s also about loyalty and what people become when the old world is gone. If you want clean heroes and a reset button every chapter, this isn’t that.

Who are you?
JP Robertson. I started this story in 2007 as a nights-and-weekends project while working as a CPA. I thought it was a novella. The crew had other plans. Nearly two decades later, this is the work I’ve stayed with.

Will there be more after Revelation?
I’m already writing the next book. I don’t announce dates until the draft is real. When there’s news, it goes to the crew list (newsletter) first.

How do I get updates without a pile of email?
Join the crew at jprobertsonauthor.com/join-the-crew. It’s a monthly note. No daily junk.

How do I contact you?
jp@jprobertsonauthor.com, or the contact link on the site. I read reader mail. I don’t always reply the same day.
